: Direct Sales
REPORTS TO: Director of Inside Sales

General Purpose of the Position: Works with the Solutions Team and project managers to provide drafting and project design engineering support for a growing sales effort.  Provides drawings for pre-sales project engineering needs, including commercial proposals, presentations, and submittals. Uses CAD tools to generate and modify system integration and installation drawings.  The overarching goal is always to support the business development goals of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Solutions Project Engineering
    • Provides design support and documentation for Solutions Team projects, including a variety of energy technologies such as gas turbines, energy storage, solar PV, wind, and heat recovery with hot water, steam, and absorption chilling
    • Generates technical documentation for both pre- and post-sales project phases, including mechanical and dimensional layouts, fuel system P&IDs, electrical single line drawings, controls schematics, thermal flow diagrams
    • Works with Solutions Team as needed to support RFP responses and documentation submittals on oil & gas and other complex projects
    • Works to define preliminary drawing packages for estimation and execution by third-party engineering, procurement, and construction firms
  • Capstone Microturbine and OEM Products
    • Create original drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams for new OEM product lines
    • Modify and contribute to electrical interconnection diagrams, standard equipment layouts, and integration drawings to support the Solutions Team.
    • Modify and contribute to electrical schematics and process and instrumentation diagrams from supporting engineering documentation for customer release.
    • Modify and contribute to Capstone O&I and product line drawings.
  • Change Management
    • Generates and completes ECR/ECO for new drawings and products including necessary documents, creation of BOMs, drawings, and material specifications.
    • Represent Direct/Solution Sales for relevant ECR/ECO change board meetings.
    • Provides updates to all team members on ECR/ECO that impact the end-user.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience with design and 2D modeling in AutoCAD
  • Experience with electrical schematics and control panels
  • Experience with enclosure component layout for power distribution and control panels
  • Experience with process piping and instrumentation diagrams

  • 3D CAD and rendering experience is preferred, with experience in CATIA V5 as a bonus
  • SAP experience is preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Some light physical effort is required.
  • Will be required to perform occasional lifting of light lab and shop materials.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed primarily in an office environment in Van Nuys, CA.

Purpose of the Position: Work with the sales team, suppliers, outside engineers and contractors to help define project requirements, refine the technical solution and business case, and execute on projects from conception to commissioning.  The overarching goal is always to support the business development goals of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with team to help with conceptual designs of multi-technology energy and sustainability projects including generators, CHP, solar photovoltaic (PV), and/or battery energy storage systems (BESS), both on-grid and off-grid (microgrid/resiliency)
  • Creates equipment lists, project budgets, work breakdown schedules, and project execution plans.
  • Develops and implements recovery plans for off-schedule situations and unanticipated issues.
  • Manages projects costs during execution phase.
  • Leads project partners to successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Tracks projects against schedule, budget and objectives, reporting status on a weekly basis to supervisor, and CRO on an as-needed basis.
  • Utilizes project management tools and analysis software as-needed to manage projects.
  • Manage external resources related to projects - these efforts include the contract management, planning, budgeting, execution and successful commissioning of the completed projects.
  • Coordinate with customers, the sales team, and project stakeholders to provide necessary project status updates and report internally on any customer feedback.
  • Lead project teams and facilitate the communication and interaction among the project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and commercial insight to support projects including technical feasibility and economic studies, creation of systems specifications and simplified diagrams of electrical, control, fuel, thermal and mechanical systems, as well as minor mechanical/electrical design and analysis.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Great customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent technical skills and understanding of EPC methods, contracts, and blueprints/construction drawings.
  • Experience in multiple distributed generation technologies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • General knowledge of operations, including scheduling, procurement, manufacturing, test engineering, and quality systems.

  • Minimum of 3 years in demonstrated successful project/construction management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Purpose of the Position: Hands-on work designed to learn and develop the skills needed in an engineering environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with design engineers to understand the design and test goals.
  • Create and update drawings and assist with the release process
  • Recommend and improve upon test plans.
  • Coordinate the procurement of test materials, system build, test cell set up and test execution.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and recording of test data.
  • Assist in troubleshooting development engines, controllers and test cells.
  • Write reports and disseminate test results.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers for validation or improvement considerations in the design.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be computer literate and proficient with all the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with proper engineering techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks or Catia.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn. 

Education and Experience:

  • Completed freshman year minimum pursuing a technical degree; preferably in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Responsible for moderate to complex technical documentation tasks and projects with either writing or editing focus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, develop and maintain reference documentation (e.g. manuals, procedures, technical specifications, presentations, proposals, etc.) used by customers or staff.
  • Translate technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences.
  • Work with other departments to produce a wide variety of technical publications.
  • Interview subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written ext, and coordinate layout and material organization.
  • Research information such as drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications to fill any gaps. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Must possess excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Must demonstrate technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and components.
